I paid an outrageous price for this product because it had been discontinued and it was my favorite. When I opened it the foam applicator disintegrated. The foam ends just turned to dust. Can't imagine how long someone had this laying around. I was afraid to use it.I guess I should have looked a little more closely at the color scheme involved here. I like Almay products and eyeshadows made for eye colors, and this does a great job of bringing out the green in my eyes. But, after applying it once, I realized I'm probably not ever going to wear it again. An eyeshadow palette of 2 greens and a purple just doesn't have a lot use in my daily life.UPDATE: I tossed this in the trash yesterday. I got an eye infection and my eye doctor said it was probably due to this shadow.**************I wish Almay hadn't discontinued this trio. I took a chance because I love this so much, but even though the package was never opened, the date on the package is 2009. The sponge tip applicator was rotten, but I use brushes so that didn't matter to me. So far, the shadow doesn't seem rotten or crumbly, but I've heard it's not safe to use shadow this old. It seems OK for now. I'll have to find another Holy Grail shadow, I loved the colors (the purple shade made my green eyes pop!) - and the light green was an overall satin-finish daytime shadow.I have itchy watery eyes and this never bothers me. This is the only brand I buy. My local stores stopped carrying this color so I only order this. I used to wear a rose color and thought this plum type color would be too dark. It's a great color, not too dark and not light. It looks good with any color I wear.I really like this eye shadow. I've used it for years and I was so bummed when this particular combination was discontinued. Both eye shadows came in the original packaging and were in excellent condition. This was not the colors I anticipated upon purchase. Being a good sport, I used it anyway, figuring I may as well try something different, who knows, maybe I'll grow to really like it. But, honestly I find these colors extremely unattractive mostly because they clash with each other and don't look flawless on the eye, even when well blended. My eyes don't pop, but instead look a bit pooped... Oh well, I think I need to purchase makeup in an actual store, so I can actually see what the colors REALLY look like before spending my hard earned money on something I didn't want. Lesson learned.I love the colors of this eyeshadow. I put the green on my lids to accent my green eyes and then the purple which is very light but compliments the green. I better order more because once you find an eyeshadow that works, they stop making it.Intense is the right word. Other than the pale green--I blend the other two with light colors. They are quite dark and probably best for evenings out in dim light.
